The 2012 doomsday prophecy is predicted to occur on December 12, 2012 at exactly 11:11 am GMT when the Winter Solstice Sun will come extremely close to where the Galactic Equator (otherwise known as the Equator of the Milky Way) and the path of the Sun.  According to the Maya this is the ‘Sacred Tree’.  This crossing of paths has been progressing for thousands of years. What will happen?  Nobody really knows. Scientists and researchers offer their options as do the ancestors of the Maya but until we experience 12/12/2012 at 11:11 am GMT no one can say for sure what will happen, if it really will be a 2012 doomsday.
